Fatal Overdoses from sedatives are on the rise

CBS.com has recently report a rise in fatal overdoses from commonly prescribed sedatives:

While deaths from overdoses of heroin and narcotic painkillers like Oxycontin have surged in recent years, a new report finds the same thing is happening with widely used sedatives such as Xanax, Valium and Ativan.

These prescribed sedatives, can mimic the affects of heroin and narcotic painkillers. To combat in the moment overdoses, EMR paramedics and public service offers, are starting to utilize overdose-reversal drug naloxone. Such states as Connecticut have equipped emergency responders with Narcan.

Although these onsite combatants, can possible save lives, the safest way to detox from opiates is through a medical detox.
