Patient’s in Alcohol Withdrawal often experience symptoms such as tremors, nausea, vomiting, chills, and insomnia. Alcohol Withdrawal can be potentially life threatening, and can lead to seizure when attempted without medical supervision. At Hill Country Detox we use medications that bind to the same neuro-receptors affected by alcohol, allowing us to safely taper our patients down until they’ve overcome physical symptoms of dependence and withdrawal.
Opioid withdrawal can onset quickly after a patient’s last use. Some highly potent opiates can cause withdrawal after just one use. Withdrawal usually presents as flu-like symptoms, and includes body aches, nausea, vomiting, chills, runny nose, teary eyes, and insomnia. At Hill Country Detox, we use Suboxone, a combination opioid/opioid antagonist to taper our patients down through the most severe withdrawal symptoms. While Opioid Withdrawal is not typically life threatening, the severe discomfort of untreated symptoms contributes to high risk of relapse.
Benzodiazepine drugs such as Xanax, Klonopin, and Valium can cause withdrawal symptoms similar to that of alcohol withdrawal. Without medically supervised detox, patients in benzo withdrawal are at advanced risk of seizure. At Hill Country Detox, we combine medical taper protocols in conjunction with seizure prophylaxis medications to reduce this risk, and allow you to safely and comfortably discontinue benzodiazepine use.
Polysubstance users are individuals who continuously use or abuse more than one substance, and may be prone to withdrawal from more than one of these substances. Detox protocol for multiple drugs is highly individualized, and can be performed by combining the protocols described above. At Hill Country Detox, we can safely detox individuals with complex drug and alcohol use histories, and help them on their way to living a sober, healthy life.
